Deathly Hallows Movie: in Two Parts? |
Lead | |

I recently heard on Pottercast that there's been serious discussion of splitting Deathly Hallows into 2 movies, and it's apparently gotten
farther than the discussion did with Goblet of Fire--what do you all think?

Actually, I don't think I'd mind. At this point, when I know (unless there's some miracle) that we're not getting anything new from Harry's
world, I'd take anything that would extend the experience.

This way, they can push a bit of book 6 into the first book 7 movie (Like LOTR did between the 1st & 2nd books.)
I'm trying to think when is a good "resting spot" about halfway through book seven, to break the movies. Maybe when Ron came back? Maybe the first movie could be them going around the countryside trying to figure out what they should do (which I think is more than half the book), and the second movie the showdown at Hogwarts? What do y'all think? |

I don't know. Just hope they will bring in "important parts" of the book. And not just let us wonder. I felt like I was cheated with movie 5.
They need to bring in the parts that "JK" focused on or seems to be really important for the reader/viewer to know.

Interesting, I'd been reading that this might happen and I don't think it's a bad idea to make sure there's sufficient detail.
A more natural cliff hanger might be the loss of Ron to the trio (rather than his return), just thinking in terms of suspense before all is resolved in the final instalment. But, it's been a while since I read Hallows, so I can't remember how far into the book that happens. |

It will be really interesting to see where the split occurs. I can't really find one good spot...I'm pretty sure almost anywhere in the book could be a
cliffhanger. But this will be fun for all of us who know the book so well because we won't actually be able to predict the ending, though I'm sure
I'll likely leave the theater and be thinking "Why did they pick that spot to end it? And why doesn't the next movie come out for another
year??"
Really, if you think about it though, splitting DH is a very smart decision for the studio. Because not only will they make us, the fans, happy because we get more detail and another movie; but also because in splitting DH and creating two movies...they're doubling their potential net profit from the films. Smart cookies.
