In the summer of 1953, two 11 year old boys, who are best friends, are
playing a Little League baseball game when a foul ball hit by one of the
boys, Owen Meany, kills the other boy's mother. Owen Meany doesn't
believe in accidents though, he believes he is God's instrument, and
what happens to him after he hits that foul ball is extraordinary.
I can't really say anything else about what this story is about, without giving the "magic" of it away. Owen Meany is a character I will never forget, and not just because of his unusual voice and his diminutive size. I really enjoyed this story. I found myself rereading certain paragraphs several times because they were so beautifully written. This is a story I will never forget, it will stick with me forever. The last few pages reveal a few "aha" moments.
