I picked this up because I thought it sounded interesting. It was not. To be fair it was mildly interesting. Based on the historical Radcliffe murders in the Limehouse section of London-a place of poverty and depravity, it follows the life of Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cree from sewer of sails with her depraved mother to her rise as music hall performer to her marriage to John Cree-even more depraved than her mother-to her execution as the murderess of her husband. Both of which I believe are not actual figures.
I guess this is considered a literary piece-the reviews are good. Personally I rate it a low 5. A study of the dark side of Victorian times with some of the literary and historic figures of the time like Karl Marx and George Gissing. Fortunately it is short.
